is a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in International Peace, Security and Children and a Professor in International Development Studies at Dalhousie University. While she has wide ranging interests in critical human geography and development, much of her recent research has focused on youth migration, violence, and forced displacement in Latin America and the U.S./Mexico border region. Her other work includes research on gentrification, policing, and informal economies; borders, migration, and asylum; emotional geographies and care ethics; higher education and learning; and environmental policy. Within the Transforming Climate Action research program, she is developing new research on labour and human rights in fisheries in the Americas.
