is a Master’s student at Dalhousie University studying Social Anthropology. They hold an undergraduate degree in Social Anthropology and International Development Studies with honours from the University of King’s College and Dalhousie University. Althea’s honours thesis focused on the Harana Singers, a choir comprised of Filipinos based in Nova Scotia and explored what it means to be in the Harana Singers in terms of culture, transnationalism and collective music-making. Her research in CJV2 pivots on their research on the Filipino community by examining the effects of ocean climate change on Filipino fishing culture and economic ecology in Real, Quezon. Althea is also a CJV2 research assistant for Dr. Catherine Bryan and her research on temporary workers in the fishery industry in Atlantic Canada.
